What is a LINE QR code and how does it work

A LINE QR code is a QR code that opens a LINE add-friend link (line.me/R/ti/p/<id>), an Official Account follow page (lin.ee/<code>), a group invite (line.me/ti/g/<code>) or a LINE Pay request from any phone camera with a single tap. The code stores the public LINE URL so people land straight on the page to add you, follow your Official Account, join the group or pay on iOS and Android. Visit the LINE Help Center for help copying your personal or business link, and LINE Official Account for details on setting up an Official Account.

Add your logo, brand colours and AI-designed pixel styling for codes that match your shop, restaurant, salon, Official Account or campaign identity. Print them on window stickers, table talkers, receipts, flyers, packaging, business cards, event posters or sign-up forms in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia, where LINE is the default messenger. Every LINE QR is dynamic by default, so you can edit the destination URL in your dashboard and track every scan across loyalty campaigns or A/B test add-friend, Official Account and group variants without reprinting materials.

Build an add-friend, Official Account or group QR code in 3 steps

Copy your LINE add-friend URL, Official Account lin.ee link or group invite, personalise the QR code with your logo and AI pixel styling, then download it in PNG, SVG or PDF for shop stickers, table talkers, receipts or event posters.

  1. Step 1

    Copy your LINE link

Personal account: open LINE, go to Home, tap your QR code icon and choose Share to get your line.me/R/ti/p/<id> link. Official Account: open LINE Official Account Manager, go to Gain friends and copy the lin.ee/<code> URL. Group: open the group, tap the menu, then choose Invite via QR code or copy the link.

  2. Step 2

    Personalise the QR code

Add your logo, brand colours and pixel patterns. Choose from 1200+ templates or generate QR Art to match your shop sign, restaurant menu, salon identity, Official Account theme or loyalty campaign flyer.

  3. Step 3

    Download and publish

Export in PNG, SVG or PDF for any printer or screen. Test the scan first with iPhone Camera and Android Lens, both with and without LINE installed, to make sure the add-friend or Official Account link opens properly before large print runs.

Frequently asked questions about LINE QR codes

Sharing add-friend links, Official Accounts and group invites with QR codes.

Open LINE, go to Home, tap the QR code icon at the top, then choose Share to copy your line.me/R/ti/p/[id] add-friend link or your Official Account URL. Paste that URL into QR Code AI, customise the design with your logo and brand colours, then download it in PNG, SVG or PDF for window stickers, table talkers, receipts, packaging or printed campaigns. When scanned, the LINE app opens directly to your add-friend page on iPhone or Android.

Yes. LINE QR codes are free on QR Code AI. Create them, customise them with your logo, brand colours and AI-designed pixel styling, then download them in PNG, SVG or PDF without watermarks. Most LINE QR codes are dynamic by default, which means the destination stays editable after printing and every scan is tracked in your dashboard with country, device, browser and timestamp data, which is useful for measuring campaign reach without printing again.

A LINE QR opens an add-friend link, Official Account or group invite inside LINE, which is the default messenger in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia. A WhatsApp QR opens a one-to-one wa.me chat for customer service across Latin America, India and Southern Europe. The audience footprint and use case are different. Create both if your business serves more than one region.

On phones with LINE installed, scanning the QR opens the LINE app on the add-friend screen, Official Account page or group invite. On phones without LINE, the link opens line.me or lin.ee in a browser with a prompt to add the friend or open LINE. iPhone Camera and Android Lens recognise line.me and lin.ee URLs and pass people into the app when it is installed.

Every LINE QR created on QR Code AI is dynamic by default, so scan tracking is automatic. Each scan records the timestamp, device type such as iPhone, Android or desktop, and approximate location including country, region and city in your dashboard. You can also add UTM parameters to the short link to compare which window sticker, receipt or flyer brings in the most LINE friends and Official Account follows.

A LINE group QR code lets new members join your group with one scan. Open the LINE app, tap the group chat, then tap the menu icon in the top right and select Invite. Choose QR code to show the group invite QR, then tap Share or Save Image. To create a custom version, copy the line.me/ti/g/<code> invite link, paste it into QR Code AI, then add your logo, colours and AI-designed pixel styling before downloading in PNG, SVG or PDF.

Creating a LINE group invite QR code starts inside the group chat. Open LINE, tap the target group, then tap the three-line menu and choose Invite, followed by QR code. LINE generates a native invite QR that you can save. If you want a custom version for flyers, packaging or shop stickers, copy the line.me/ti/g/<code> link behind the invite, paste it into QR Code AI, then add your logo and brand colours. The QR remains valid while the group allows QR-based joining.

You can scan a LINE QR code in two ways. Inside the app, open LINE, tap Home, then tap the QR icon at the top right to open the built-in scanner and point the camera at the code to add a friend, follow an Official Account or join a group. Without opening LINE, use iPhone Camera on iOS 11 or later, or an Android camera on Android 10 or later. Both recognise line.me and lin.ee URLs and open the LINE app when installed.
